Earlier this month, Berkley Group led the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission (RRRC)'s public forum to gather feedback on the Regional Hazard Mitigation and Resilience Plan. The plan has been prepared with input from each of the region’s localities, whom through multiple meetings, provided information, insight, and comments throughout the process. The public forum was an opportunity for all RRRC residents, business owners, elected and appointed officials and other stakeholders to review the document and provide comments.
Federal regulations require these plans to be updated every five years to remain eligible for certain FEMA grants, programs, and disaster relief funds. Additionally, incorporation of the new Resilience Plan, will make the region’s local governments eligible to apply for flood mitigation project funding through the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) Community Flood Preparedness Fund.
