BG Develops Resilience Plan for Central Virginia PDC
Challenges like flooding and extreme heat demand proactive, effective planning. At Berkley Group, we specialize in partnering with local governments and planning district commissions to create customized resilience plans that address local needs while fostering long-term sustainability. Our services include risk assessments, data-driven mitigation strategies, stakeholder engagement, and support in securing critical funding opportunities like the Virginia Community Flood Preparedness Fund (CFPF).
We recently partnered with Central Virginia Planning District Commission for the development and adoption of their Resilience Plan. Berkley Group developed the Central Virginia Planning District Commission's Flood Resilience Plan to enhance the region's ability to withstand, adapt, and recover from flooding and extreme heat impacts. This plan provides an inventory of existing conditions and offers tailored strategies and recommendations for each of the ten member localities, including Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell, and Bedford counties, as well as the towns of Amherst, Altavista, Appomattox, Bedford, Brookneal, and the City of Lynchburg. The plan was adopted by the CVPDC in September 2024.
We know that many local governments face capacity challenges, and that’s where we come in—to bolster your efforts, enhance your capabilities, and help you implement practical solutions. Our approach is collaborative, ensuring that plans are not only effective but also sustainable and community-driven. Together, we can build a safer, more resilient future for your region.
